Moving off of welfare and on to a successful future in college/university is no easy feat. Today, the expense of college and university  is even a burden for youth who do not have children. While not everyone has been a young single mother, everyone has experienced their own kind of hardship. Some may not have had any help, but many others would not be where we they are without the kindness of another person. That is why WMF has created the WMF Scholarship Fund.

The WMF Scholarship fund began in 2005, when the WMF staff realized the great expense of getting into, and making it through the first year of college/university. Staff established a small fund using their own money, so that participants could be rewarded for their efforts. By 2007, Literature for Life added to the fund, allowing WMF to increase the award from 4 women to 5. Since then, our supporters have allowed us to generate a scholarship fund to assist up to 7 women annually with books, tuition and other school-related expenses.

Now we need your help. With more than 100 women served, we hope to help every woman who makes the big step from welfare to college/university. Your contribution to the WMF Scholarship Fund will enable us to fulfill the dream that young mothers have the financial means to follow their dreams.
